In a generally uneventful NBA Trade Deadline, the Lakers did not make any moves. That means Lou Williams, Nick Young, Brandon Bass, and Roy Hibbert are all Lakers, at least until the summer barring any buyouts. Williams was the name that generated the most interest, but nothing materialized before the 12:00 p.m. (PST) deadline.
Now that Williams is staying put, it will be interesting to see how the minutes shake out in the last third of the season. Head coach Byron Scott has mentioned he will give the young players more playing time, but Lou has been one of Scott’s favorite players this season. We will have to see if Byron is a man of his word.
Arguably the biggest news for Lakers fans today was this tweet, showing the throwback uniforms the Lakers will wear in the 2016-2017 season.

With the team still fully intact, not much should change in terms of wins and losses. Other than Kobe making it to his last scheduled game in one piece, D’Angelo and the rest of the young core’s development should be the main priority going forward. Here’s to hoping for 27 exciting games (that aren’t detrimental to the Tank) to cap what has been a dismal year for the Lakers.
