Outside of the views and expectations of the supremely optimistic bunch, the Los Angeles Lakers were not supposed to win very many games this season. Thus far, that prognosis has been fulfilled. The team has just two wins through 15 games, with a number of upcoming back-to-backs staring them in the face.
Instead of wins, many people have agreed that the player development of the Lakers’ young players is far and away the top priority. Most notable of those young players are D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.
In their 108-96 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the trio of talented youngsters for Los Angeles had a performance that left fans giddy, even in defeat. Of course, it is tough to see the losses pile up, but with continued development, that pile should naturally diminish over time, whether it is later this season or years beyond.
