The Los Angeles Lakers are continuing their busy offseason as they fill out their needs around LeBron James.
On the second day of free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with point guard Rajon Rondo worth nine million dollars, according to Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

Rondo joins a Lakers team in need of depth at the point guard position with Lonzo Ball as the only true point guard on the roster.
In order to make the move possible, the Lakers have renounced the free agent rights of Julius Randle. The big man was a restricted free agent with a cap hold of 12.5 million. While his market dwindled, it’s apparent that the Lakers were unable to come to an agreement with him, forcing the front office to look in a different direction.
While far removed from his prime, Rondo had a productive season last year with the New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged 8.3 points and 8.2 assists in just 26.2 minutes per game.
Rondo has long been a target of the Lakers who have faced him in the Finals twice while the point guard was a member of the Boston Celtics.
The Lakers have also scheduled a meeting with Tyreke Evans who was another target for the backup point guard role.
