The Los Angeles Lakers had LiAngelo Ball in for a workout on Tuesday but it does not appear likely that he has a future with the franchise. According to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, the team does not have Lonzo Ball’s younger brother in any of their future plans.

This is not surprising in the least. The younger Ball is not deemed to be even a fringe NBA prospect making his signing in the G-League an unlikely event let alone being selected in the 2018 NBA Draft.
The Lakers could still have Ball in camp to start the season. It would be a favor to Lonzo and his family and there is precedent across the league. The Knicks had J.R. Smith’s brother on the roster and the Wolves had Andrew Wiggins’ brother in for camp, previously.
Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that LiAngelo will even have a spot on the summer camp roster as the Lakers tend to look for more serviceable players who could find themselves on the final roster by the time the season comes around.
LiAngelo Ball will likely find more success in Europe as he had a decent showing in Lithuania playing alongside his younger brother LaMelo.
