Report: Brandon Bass signs one-year deal with Clippers

The Lakers are losing another of their veterans from last season. Power forward Brandon Bass has reached agreement on a one year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Bass spent only one season with the Lakers. After early season struggles, Bass really shined for the team deep into the season. He averaged 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in his lone season in the Purple and Gold. Bass played both as a backup power forward and center.

That Bass was still available after a very solid season is mildly surprising. However, it appears that he may have been looking for the perfect situation.

In signing with the Clippers, Bass joins a team that is arguably the second best in the West. While it is improbable that anyone beats the Warriors next year, LAC may have the best chance in the conference.

Bass also gets to join forces with Doc Rivers, once again. The two were together on the Celtics for some time before Rivers moved to LA.

Bass was a great professional in his time with the Lakers and one of the best vets for the team’s young players. Now he has an opportunity to bring his leadership and energy to a contending team.
