Well, it was bound to happen.

When the Los Angeles Lakers signed LeBron James, they knew that it would come with all of the off-court activities including his social and political activism. Last week, James started a brand new school in Akron for at-risk children and in his press tour, the Lakers star spoke about United States President Donald Trump.

It was not the first time that James has spoken out about the president, criticizing his actions and words for the past year. This time, however, it seemed to strike a nerve as the president responded to James’ comments via his most-used app:

Trump’s response is not the first time he has criticized athletes for their political and social views. He famously rescinded the Golden State Warriors’ invitation to the White House after prominent members of the team had said that the entire organization had decided not to go.

What is clear is that in this era, athletes are more and more inclined to speak their mind on important topics and use their platforms to inform the public. James has been among the most notable athletes to do just that and to his credit, he has also put his money where his mouth is.

But anyway, LeBron James > Michael Jordan is now confirmed.
