LeBron James on President Trump: “He’s trying to divide us”

Los Angeles Laker forward LeBron James has been outspoken in his displeasure with current president Donald Trump, whether through Twitter, Instagram or straight from his mouth while in the back of an Uber.

It should come as no surprise, then, that he was presented with questions about the current President of the United States during the unveiling of his new school this week. It should also come as no surprise that James did not mix words in his response.

From an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon (h/t Silver Screen & Roll)

James: “When you’re a part of sports, it just brings so much camaraderie and so much fun. We’re in a position right now in America, more importantly, where this race thing has taken over because I believe our president is kinda trying to divide us.”

Lemon: “Kinda?”

James: ”He is (trying to divide us). I don’t want to say kinda. He’s dividing us, and what I’ve noticed over the last few months is that he’s kind of used sports to kind of divide us.”

As if that wasn’t a strong enough response, James doubled down on his comments later in his appearance on CNN.

As previously stated, this is nothing new for James, who is using the platform given to him to be outspoken on matters that are of importance to him.

No matter one’s stance on the matters and whether they agree with James or not, it’s impressive to see James not only using his platform to speak his mind but using it for good with the new school as a great.

Considering how far James has come from being a homeless kid in Akron to present day as arguably the most influential athlete in America, seeing his words carry so much weight is an incredible feat.
