The Los Angeles Lakers are continuing to round out their Summer League roster. According to Sean Cunningham of ABC10 Sacramento, the Lakers have signed Malik Pope to a contract for the summer:
Sacramento native (Laguna Creek HS) & San Diego State star Malik Pope will be joining the Los Angeles Lakers for Summer League, according to sources. That means he'll be playing in his hometown during the California Classic – before heading to Vegas.

Pope spent four seasons at San Diego State, completing a standout career in the Mountain West conference. Last season, the senior averaged 12.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three. The 6-10 forward contributed to SDSU’s usually strong brand of defense.
The Lakers almost have their full summer league roster. Second-year Lakers Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant and Alex Caruso will likely be playing in the summer again. They will be joined by draft selections Moritz Wagner, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, and Isaac Bonga. Rounding out the roster, so far, are undrafted free agents Jeffrey Carroll, Malik Newman, Joel Berry II, Johnathan Williams and Pope.
The Lakers will begin their summer games in Pope’s hometown of Sacramento in the inaugural 2018 California Classic before traveling to the 2018 Las Vegas Summer League which will feature all 30 teams for the first time.
The Lakers will be hoping to repeat as Las Vegas Summer League champions after winning the tournament last year led by Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.
