After drafting Moritz Wagner out of Michigan with the 25th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers have added to their young core with their first of two selection in the second round.

With the 39th overall pick in the draft, the Lakers have selected Isaac Bonga, a forward out of Germany.

Bonga is an 18-year old who spent last season with Frankfurt in the second division in Germany. In 41 games with the Frankfurt Skyliners, Bonga averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from the line and 83 percent from the line.

With loads of potential with little immediate talent, Bonga could very likely be a draft and stash options for Los Angeles. With a 6’9″ frame, a 7’0″ wingspan and a 19.9 percent usage percentage, there’s reason to believe Bonga could be useful in the future.

The 39th overall pick was acquired via the 76ers after a trade on Wednesday night.

The Lakers will have one more selection in the draft, also possessing the 47th overall pick.
