Lakers Injury News: Lonzo Ball wonā€™t return until after All-Star Weekend

One month ago today, Lonzo Ball exited a game in Dallas after tweaking his knee posting up Dennis Smith, Jr.

Los Angeles Lakers fans will have to wait at least another week before they see their second overall pick on the court once again.

Per Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times (and others), Luke Walton informed reporters that Ball would not play either of the Lakersā€™ two games this week (Wednesday evening against the New Orleans Pelicans or Thursday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves).

Interestingly enough, Walton did not commit to holding Ball out of Fridayā€™s rookie/sophomore game, which is being held in Los Angeles. It would not be a great look if his first action in more than a month would come in a meaningless exhibition game, no matter where said game might be played.

Ball will have another 10 days to try to get himself ready to play when the season resumes next Friday against (coincidentally) the same Dallas Mavericks Lonzo initially hurt himself.

Itā€™s not necessarily time to worry about this injury, but eyebrows are probably raised at this point and if Lonzo isnā€™t able to return next week, then we can probably start wondering whatā€™s actually going on.
