The Los Angeles Lakers still have one roster spot to fill after free agency. It could be given to a player who shows out in training camp and the preseason, one of the free agents still on the market, or it could remain empty going into the season.

One other potential addition could reportedly be Dwyane Wade. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, someone close to Wade has made it known that the shooting guard could end up with in Los Angeles or reunite with the Miami Heat if the Bulls buy him out of his contract. It is unclear whether Wade prefers the Clippers or the Lakers as a Southern California destination.

Wade signed a two-year contract with his home-town Bulls last summer. But with Jimmy Butler now gone and the Bulls looking to tank and give playing time to younger players, it’s unclear if Wade has a future in the Windy City.

Of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers will also continue to be a reported potential destination as long as Wade’s close friend LeBron James is playing there. That may be the biggest reason behind the Lakers’ reported interest in Wade as the team is hoping to make a play at James in 2018.

Beyond Wade’s relationship with James and his potential role as a recruiter, he can also bring plenty of experience to LA as one of the greatest shooting guards to ever play the game. That could be invaluable to a team with young guards like Lonzo Ball, Jordan Clarkson, and Josh Hart.

The Lakers would certainly prefer to trade big contracts to get Wade but it’s unlikely that the Bulls will take one in return. However, Clarkson offers an interesting target for a Bulls team with very little young talent in its backcourt outside of Zach LaVine who is coming back from an ACL injury.
