Kobe Bryant has kept busy since retiring from professional basketball after 20 seasons. But the Los Angeles Lakers legend has still found time to be more active on social media, even connecting with fans at times within a slew of endorsements and marketing posts.
On Monday, Bryant used his immense social media reach to good use, posting a public service announcement from the Southern Poverty Law Center in which he and several other celebrities speak about fighting for “equality and justice.”
According to its website, SPLC is an organization dedicated to the key moral concepts of fighting hate and teaching tolerance:
The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.
In recent years, Bryant has become a more vocal advocate for change and social justice. He memorably influenced teammates to wear “I can’t breathe” shirts after the death of Eric Garner at the hands of police and created a summit between members of the Black Lives Matter movement and the LAPD to speak about the issue of police brutality plaguing the country.
Recently, Bryant retweeted a video of a white man at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville shooting at a black counter-protester after hurling a racial slur.
