Lakers release 2017-18 preseason schedule

While the offseason has hardly begun, the Los Angeles Lakers have already released the dates of their six preseason games for the 2017-18 season.

The Lakers will play three of their six games at Staples Center and two more in Anaheim and Ontario. Their furthest game from home will be played against the Sacramento Kings at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Preseason will begin on September 30 for the Lakers, roughly three months after they finalize their newest additions through the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Lakers will only play Western Conference opponents in the preseason. That includes a matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings and two games against the Denver Nuggets, three other teams in different stages of rebuilds. The last time the Lakers and Wolves met featured an emotional game-winning three at the buzzer from D’Angelo Russell.

Their remaining two preseason games will be against playoff teams in the Utah Jazz and LA Clippers.

The Lakers will have many opportunities to fine-tune their play in a competitive setting before the regular season. Much of their core will once again play in the Las Vegas Summer League in July, giving Luke Walton’s staff plenty of time to develop them in in-game situations.
