On the same day the Lakers worked out UCLA guard Lonzo Ball, it has been reported that the team has scheduled a workout for Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox on Tuesday, June 13.

Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News broke the story first.

The Lakers plan to host an individual workout for former Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox on June 13, according to league sources familiar with the situation. After working out last week with the Sacramento Kings, Fox also plans to work out with the Philadelphia 76ers at some point the following weekend (June 16-18).

Fox is a divisive prospect that has as many detractors as he does fans. Most fans will remember Fox for his breakout game against UCLA and Ball himself during the NCAA Tournament in which he scored 39 points and led the Wildcats to a decisive win.

The Lakers have reportedly been locked in on Fox even pre-dating the NBA Draft Lottery as one of the four prospects the Lakers have considered at No. 2.

DraftExpress lists Fox as No. 4 in their mock draft. Fox was one of the few top prospects to take part in the NBA Draft Combine, measuring in at 6’3.5″ with a 6’6.5″ wingspan and a standing reach of 8’4″.

During the Combine, Fox met and interviewed with the Lakers’ contingent of Rob Pelinka, Magic Johnson and Luke Walton.

Fox is seen as a defensive-minded point guard prospect with loads of athleticism and speed, somewhat akin to former Wildcat John Wall. Like Wall, Fox’s offensive game is built around driving to the rim with a jumper in bad need of work.

However, the quickness, explosiveness and defensive ability still make Fox a top prospect and someone that could pair nicely with the offensively-focused D’Angelo Russell.

With Fox’s workout scheduled, the Lakers will have worked out the three most-likely prospects to be taken with the second pick in Ball, Jackson and Fox.
