While most assume that the Los Angeles Lakers will select UCLA guard Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, it’s not a foregone conclusion. The Lakers are doing the right thing in managing all of their options.

That includes Josh Jackson, the Kansas wing who is the consensus third best player in the draft class. According to Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet, the team will meet with Jackson and work him out in Sacramento on Thursday.

Jackson is known mostly for his defensive chops, making him an intriguing prospect for a Lakers team that was once again the worst team in the league on that side of the court.

He’s also shown some offensive talent. His shooting is a concern for many draft nuts due to his inconsistency, but he ended the year as a 38 percent shooter from deep, giving hope that he can translate that skill to the NBA.

There are likely many strong opinions regarding both Jackson and Ball and their fit in LA. The Lakers will have a stronger indication of which way they want to go in the draft after this week as they are also working out Ball on Wednesday.
