Podcast: The Lakers tried to trade for DeMarcus Cousins … again

The NBA’s best talent was gathered in New Orleans for the league’s All-Star Game on Sunday, where Anthony Davis took home game-MVP honors in front of his home crowd as the Western Conference knocked off the East. As it turns out, it was the first game that he played with new teammate DeMarcus Cousins.

That’s right, Cousins has finally escaped Sacramento by virtue of a trade to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a first-round pick, a second-round pick, Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway and Tyreke Evans. But the Pelicans weren’t the only team that called the Kings. To no surprise, the Los Angeles Lakers tried to swing a deal for the All-Star big man, but were not able to get a deal done.

What does this mean for the present and future outlook for the Lakers? Should they have sweetened the pot to land Cousins? We got together to discuss those questions and plenty more.
