Nick Young diagnosed with strained calf, out 2-4 weeks

While the news that came out on Wednesday morning wasn’t necessarily good news, it was a healthy sigh of relief for the Lakers.

Following an injury scare during Tuesday night’s contest against the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Laker guard Nick Young was carried off the court with what was originally believed to be an Achilles strain.

An MRI on Wednesday, however, revealed a calf strain, per a release from the Lakers.

Lakers guard/forward Nick Young, who was injured in the first quarter of last night’s game at New Orleans, had an MRI exam today in Chicago. The results show a strained calf muscle in his right leg. Young is expected to be out approximately 2-4 weeks.

While the injury certainly leaves the Lakers in a tough position in the middle of a four game in five night stretch, it’s good news considering the initial fears from fans and teammates alike.

The Lakers, however, are already without guard D’Angelo Russell, meaning their opening night backcourt will be sidelined for the coming weeks.
