Recap: Lakers fall to Wolves on back-to-back

The Lakers had won two straight before tonight and were looking to go 7-4 for the first time in over two years. Andrew Wiggins and the Timberwolves had other ideas.

This is the opposite of what happened in yesterday’s win when the Lakers were the ones blowing another team out. The Lakers were confident going into the game but left with a somber mood losing 125-99.

The Lakers can’t always come back

This game was a wake up call for the Lakers. Multiple times this season, the Lakers have come back down over 10 points and roared back for a win. Today’s loss showed them they can’t always do that.

If the Lakers want to prove the entire league wrong and win more than 35+ games then they need to play more consistently throughout games. Taking the lead after being down is a good skill to have, but you can’t rely on that to win games in this league.

The T-Wolves are a good young team

The Timberwolves haven’t played very well this season but they have showed off what they’re capable of. They have a great young core that rivals the Lakers, but the difference is that their young starters are more developed.

Karl-Anthony Towns is already a top five center in the league and Andrew Wiggins is a top tier scorer. KAT had 22 points and 12 rebounds and showed off the range making 2 three pointers. Wiggins was the biggest star for the Wolves shooting for 47 points, including making 17 of 22 free throw attempts.

 The Bench is still elite

The starting lineup had only 47 points on Sunday; only 2 starters scored over 10 points. The bench was another story.

They scored 52 points with multiple players contributing. Jordan Clarkson had 14 points and a couple of rebounds. Lou Williams had another good game contributing 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Brandon Ingram also had a good night with a stat line of 10/1/1/1/1. Ingram played well on the offensive end and contributed on defense as well.

It was not nice

He has had a tough time getting himself going with no big scoring nights

The Lakers have relied on Lou a lot from the bench and for the most part haven’t faltered doing so. But tonight they were able to come back in the second half.
