Mozgov signed a four-year, $64 million deal with the Lakers at the onset of free agency. Fans and analysts alike have criticized the deal for its length. A major reason for that is his injury history.

Mozgov was injured for large portions of last season after a botched knee injury. He played in no more than 45 games in his first three seasons in the league.

The severity of Mozgov’s injury is unknown. A severe injury could sideline the center six weeks or longer which would put his availability for training camp at a risk. Muscle injuries also leave the risk of re-injury if it does not heal correctly.

We obviously do not know whether this is a very serious injury. However, it could be a big blow to the Lakers and their starting center.
