“With the second pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select, Brandon Ingram!”
Those are the words that Lakers fans have assumed were coming ever since the team landed the No. 2 overall pick on May 17th’s NBA Draft Lottery, but NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made it official on the draft stage on Thursday.
Ingram fills one of the glaring needs for the Lakers at the small forward position, providing a solution out on the wing that the team has lacked for years.
The size and length that Ingram possesses could make him extremely versatile on both ends of the floor for Los Angeles, and his shooting ability from the three-point line is sorely needed.
Ingram is seemingly a perfect fit for what the Lakers need on the roster as they continue to add to their promising young core. Lakers Outsiders partner, Pete Zayas, broke down how Ingram will fit alongside the Lakers’ young talent and under new head coach Luke Walton.
Los Angeles now waits to be back on the clock with the No. 32 overall pick.
