Lakers open Summer League vs Pelicans

It is a time of new beginnings in Lakerland. The Kobe Bryant era has ended, along with Byron Scott’s reign of terror. Thursday night should bring two (or more) new Lakers onto the roster, one of them being Brandon Ingram. A week and some change after the Draft, Free Agency opens up on July 1st. Then we finally get some Lakers basketball. Well, Summer League Lakers basketball.

The Lakers kick things off against the New Orleans Pelicans on the 8th, followed by a game against (Ben Simmons’) 76ers on the 9th, and a contest against a team that the Lakers mentally broke taking place on the 11th.

The L.A. Daily News’ Mark Medina gave some details to who is on the Lakers’ Summer League squad, including Russell, Larry Nance Jr., and Anthony Brown.  The full rosters haven’t been announced yet but expect them to surface in the days following the NBA Draft.

Summer League isn’t the highest quality of basketball, but it gives us the first glimpse of some of the players on the roster. D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram are on deck to play in Las Vegas and also have obligations to the Team USA Select Team. Lakers Basketball is on its way back. Las Vegas will be hot, but has the potential to get even hotter with Russell and Ingram’s perimeter shooting. [Insert flame emojis]
