Ben Simmons has met with the Philadelphia 76ers

The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing for one final battle to crown a champion for the 2015-16 season, but they are not the only teams at work.

With the 2016 NBA Draft less than a week away, chatter of the Philadelphia 76ers starting to seriously consider drafting Brandon Ingram over Ben Simmons started to build, but things can quickly change.

Simmons’ camp has let it be known that he will not workout in front of teams before the draft, but it appears he met with the team that has the chance to pick him. ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Sixers met with Simmons and his agent before Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Sources with knowledge of the meeting said Friday that new Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo and coach Brett Brown — in the latest signal Philadelphia plans to take LSU’s Simmons with the first pick in next Thursday’s draft — headlined a contingent of team officials that ‎came to Cleveland to dine with Simmons and agent Rich Paul before Thursday’s Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Yesterday, it sounded like Ingram going No. 1 overall was a real possibility, but now all signs are indicating once again that the 76ers will go with Simmons.

The Lakers can sit back and wait, knowing they will get one of the draft’s top two prospects. We are only six days away, but it appears likely that Ingram is in purple and gold next season.
