The NBA Trade Deadline is February 18. Before we know it, players will be swapping teams and we’ll be refreshing our feeds every second for more info. The Lakers, having a few players on the block (Nick Young, Lou Williams, Roy Hibbert, Brandon Bass), are sure to be busy in the coming weeks. Using the ESPN Trade Machine, I will be making some deadline moves as the ‘general manager’ of the Lakers. Here we go.
1. Lakers Super Team
Despite Dan Gilbert’s best efforts to stop me, I have assembled what could be the greatest team in NBA history.
2. Expedited Rebuild
Great young talent is hard to come by. Rebuilds aren’t fun and they are hard to watch. I threw all of that out of the window and traded for some of the most promising young players in the Association.
No more tank!
3. We’re Getting the Band Back Together
This idea came from Jacob Rude with the hashtag “#BringEmBackMitch”. I did my best to put the 2008-2009 title team back together. The majority of the team is out of the league currently, so this is what I have.
Plus Metta gets to go home to New York! Queensbridge!
4. Welcome to the Jam
We’re going back in time to 1996. I don’t know how the Bulls got him back (at this price, too), but I managed to get Michael Jordan. Not just any MJ, though. Tune Squad Michael Jordan. Teams won’t know how to defend the half court dunk.
The Bulls did steal the Catalyst from me, though.
5. Keep Your Enemies Close
I know what you are thinking. “Why trade for these guys? I hate them.” Yeah, Kobe does too. That’s exactly why I am putting them on the team. Kobe would probably end up locking them in the basement of STAPLES Center, á la Threat Level Midnight.
If I could, I would have put Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, and Dahntay Jones in there.
6. Enter Boban
BOBAN AND 14 OF HIS CLONES IN EXCHANGE FOR THE ENTIRE LAKERS ROSTER. 
CHAMPIONSHIP!
